Hebrews 10:26-39
1. Don’t Turn Away from the Only Savior
Hebrews warns against deliberately rejecting Jesus and the salvation he provides. This is not a warning about every struggle with sin or every moment of doubt, but about turning away from the gospel itself. To reject Jesus is to reject the only sacrifice that can cleanse us and reconcile us to God. The greatness of our Savior makes rejecting him all the more serious.
- Where might sin be deceiving you into minimizing the seriousness of your need for Jesus?
- How does understanding both God’s holiness and Christ’s sacrifice deepen your gratitude for the gospel?
Read: Hebrews 10:26–31
2. Persevere with an Eternal Perspective
The original readers had already endured suffering and loss because of their faith. Rather than turning back, they were called to persevere, trusting that the temporary costs of following Jesus cannot compare with the eternal reward awaiting them. Faith means living today in light of the certainty of Christ’s return.
- What temporary comfort or security might tempt you to compromise your faith?
- How would keeping eternity in view change the way you respond to present suffering or hardship?
Read: Hebrews 10:35–39
3. Encourage One Another to Keep Believing
Sin rarely deceives us all at once. Our hearts can become hardened gradually as we suppress the truth, excuse sin, and drift from Jesus. That is why God calls us to encourage one another daily. We lovingly remind each other of the truth, warn one another about the danger of sin, and point one another back to the greater Savior. When our sin is great, our Savior is greater.
- Who can help you recognize when sin is beginning to deceive or harden your heart?
- Who in your life needs to hear the good news of Jesus or receive encouragement to persevere? What step will you take this week?
Read: Hebrews 3:12–13
