Hebrews 3:1-6
We spend much of life evaluating ourselves and others.
Sometimes those evaluations are shallow. Sometimes they are harsh. Sometimes they are deeply misleading.
But Hebrews calls us to shift our attention somewhere better: “Consider Jesus.”
1. Consider the Builder
Hebrews 3 reminds us that Jesus is not merely part of God’s house—He is the Builder of it.
Moses was faithful in God’s house, but Jesus is faithful over it. The house itself is not the ultimate glory; the builder is.
So often we become consumed with comparing lives, achievements, appearances, and reputations. Pride traps us into constantly measuring ourselves against others. But pride collapses when we truly consider Christ.
He alone is entirely above and beyond all others.
- What are you building your life around right now?
- Do your thoughts more often revolve around comparing yourself to others or considering Jesus?
Scripture to consider: Hebrews 3:1–4
2. Jesus Is Better Than What Came Before
For the original audience of Hebrews, Moses represented faithfulness, leadership, and rescue. Yet even Moses pointed beyond himself to Someone greater.
Jesus was sent to deliver His people—not merely from slavery in Egypt, but from sin and death itself.
Moses served within God’s household. Jesus reigns over it as the Son.
This means our confidence and hope cannot ultimately rest in traditions, personalities, accomplishments, or our own effort. They must rest in Christ alone.
- Where are you tempted to place your confidence apart from Jesus?
- What would it look like to hold firmly to your hope in Him this week?
Scripture to consider: Hebrews 3:5–6
3. Keep Considering Jesus
The call of Hebrews is not simply to think about Jesus once, but continually.
The word “consider” carries the idea of careful attention, contemplation, and deep observation.
Consider Him in seasons of anxiety.
Consider Him in seasons of exhaustion.
Consider Him when life feels uncertain or unstable.
The gospel is not merely that we are rescued from sin’s consequences, but that we are brought into relationship with God Himself through Christ.
Jesus is the better builder. He knows what He is doing with His people and with your life.
- What situation in your life right now most needs the reminder that Jesus is the Builder?
- How can you intentionally slow down and consider Him this week?
Scripture to consider: Hebrews 3:1
