REMEMBER WHAT’S NECESSARY

Luke 24:1-8

Easter invites us to do more than hear a story—it calls us to respond to reality.

1. Sit in the Weight Before You Skip to the Wonder
Some stories exist to distract us from reality. But the events leading up to Easter force us to face it head-on.

From celebration on Sunday, to betrayal on Thursday, to crucifixion on Friday… and then silence on Saturday. The women came to the tomb with spices, expecting death—ready to grieve, not celebrate.

We don’t like sitting in that space. We rush past it. But what if part of understanding Easter is actually feeling the weight of death, loss, and unmet expectations?

  • Where are you avoiding sitting in hard realities right now?
  • What might God want to show you if you slowed down and faced them?

Scripture to consider: Luke 24:1–3

2. The Empty Tomb Changes Everything
The stone was rolled away—not by the women, but by God. The barrier they couldn’t move had already been handled.

And then the shock: the tomb is empty.

This isn’t just surprising—it’s demanding. You can have opinions about Christianity, but an empty tomb forces a deeper question: What do you do with a risen Jesus?

The message given to the women was simple: “Remember what He said.”
His death and resurrection weren’t accidents—they were necessary.

Necessary because of our need for salvation.
Necessary because of God’s love.

  • What barriers feel like they stand between you and Jesus?
  • What would it look like to trust God to remove what you cannot?

Scripture to consider: Luke 24:5–7

3. Remember—and Respond
“They remembered His words.”

That’s where everything begins to change.

Easter isn’t a story we tell to cope with death—it’s the truth that death has been defeated. The invitation is real: come, receive life, believe, and follow.

If you feel empty, searching, or unsatisfied—you’re invited. Not to try harder, but to receive what only God can give.

And here’s the reality: remembering leads to responding.

  • Do you truly believe that Jesus is alive?
  • How will you respond to that truth today?

Scripture to consider: Isaiah 55:1–3

Bottom Line: Remember what’s necessary—Christ died, and Christ is now alive.

This isn’t a story to delay death.
This is the truth that defeats it.

Because He lives, we no longer fear death—we pass through it into life with Him.
